Works of ARQ - Teo Aceto receives Community Arts Grant with Mecklenburg Community Park
Congratulations to ARQtist Teo Aceto on receiving his first Community Arts grant award from the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes!
In coordination with Friends of Mecklenburg Community Park, Teo will craft a distinctive ironwork art bench and corresponding placard stand that highlights the native plants and pollinators at Mecklenburg Community Park.
Teo Aceto of Crepuscular Forge has been creating art works out of the Metal Shops at the ARQ Barn for over 15 years. He worked closely with master blacksmith Durand Van Doren on creating the arts benches and sculptures for the Ithaca Children’s Garden, commemorative benches throughout Trumansburg, and dozens of botanically inspired placards at the Cornell Botanic Gardens. This would be his first ironwork arts bench installed in a public space for Mecklenburg, and is the first public arts grant received by the Friends of Mecklenburg Community Park!
We're very excited that this grant is supporting the continued collaboration of the ARQ Barn with Mecklenburg Pond Park (our very closest public community space), and to further the integration of locally made art works into shared community spaces.
